TEA HARVESTING IN BLACKSEA REGİON
The story of tea in the Black Sea ... Tea that is solely produced in the city of Rize in Turkey is the main source of income of the city as well. Based on the data for 2017, with the help of the people of Rize who harvested about 250 thousand tons of tea, Turkey has become one of the most important tea producers in the world. In Rize, tea harvesting is carried out on coastal fields for 4 times a year, and on inland fields for 3 times a year. The processing technique used to process fresh tea leaves was to immediately steam the fresh tea leaves and dry them for preservation, which is likely the most ancient Chinese form of tea leaf processing.  Almost every resident in Rize has their own tea field. Harvesting is performed by field owners or tea pickers called as "yarıcı". In recent years, Georgian workers have been more preferable and active in the region due to their cheap labor. Tea leaves are mostly harvested by women. The tea leaves harvested are delivered in bags to the tea leaves collecting areas in villages where they are sold to the representatives from tea producing companies after being weighted out by kilo. Every field owner has a right to deliver a certain amount of tea leaves to the state-owned tea producing company, Çaykur. Every field owner has an official follow-up book and the amount of tea leaves they sell is entered in these books.

Herkesin belirli bir ölçüde Çaykur'a çay verme hakkı bulunuyor. Satılan çay miktarı, her tarla sahibinde bulunan defterlere işleniyor. Fotoğraflar, Rize Ardeşen kırsalındaki çay üreticileri ve çay fabrikalarında çekildi.
